Basic Egyptian Week-end Workshop August 2-3 2008 in Delaware These two 3 hour classes are designed to teach the basic movements of classic Egyptian cabaret dancing. The workshop covers: Basic
hip movements NOTE: This is not a "Beginners" class, but a review of "Basics". Beginners who take this class will not feel lost, however only someone with several years of experience and an understanding of Middle Eastern movement and music, will fully appreciate the nuances in style. Those new to the dance can learn on the spot (which is better than working to undo previous bad habits). Nevertheless, it usually takes a year or two before basic muscle mastery is achieved. There are 4 branches of Middle Eastern dance, each with a unique flavor. Lebanese is different
from Turkish, which is different from AmCab, or Egyptian. Intricate, complicated movements in any style require command of specific
muscle groups.
Since styles vary, it follows that the muscles used will vary as well. A dancer may know the
"basics" of her style, but not necessarily the basics of another. A performer may think the movements are the same, but to an
audience they are not. The cost for the week-end workshop
is $100.00 per student, payable at the time of registration by either
credit card (Please call 1 800 835-7537), check or money order (made out to Serpentine Inc. and sent to the address above). You MUST
pre-register. No walk-ins will be accepted as space is limited. Registration
is on a first come first served basis. Limited slots available for one day only ($65.00), but preference will be given to those who sign up for both days. Contact us to know more about this option. The workshop will be held at : THE YOGA STUDIO
33247 Fairfield Road Peddlers Village, Angola Delaware 19966 Off of Route 24, 3 miles from Route 1. Next to Donut Connection and Hair Dimensions.
